I am committed to helping clients live positively, effectively and creatively.  My practice goal is to assist them to identify, clarify and utilize their unique strengths.  They then build on those strengths as they consciously create their personalized environment of self-empowerment and meaningful change. My therapeutic emphasis is counseling those moving through life transitions.  In my practice I  focus is on the "whole person" and addresses the emotional, intellectual, social, spiritual and physical aspects of my client.  Clients design and begin to experience a life that is reflective of their highest intentions, qualities and values.  This holistic approach is equally applicable and effective in individual, couple, family and group counseling.  The specific therapeutic approaches I most frequently use are:

Positive Psychology: The purpose of this approach is for clients to identify their happiness in the moment rather by retrospection.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): A form of treatment that helps clients see the relationship between their beliefs, thoughts and feelings, and the resulting patterns of behavior.

Solution Focused:  This therapy is goal oriented with the emphasis on present and future circumstances and desires rather than on the client's past experiences.

Counseling is a personal choice and commitment. This choice may arise from a specific circumstance such as the ending of a relationship; a realization that current personal coping skills are no longer effective; emotions of anxiety or depression; or a “feeling” or intuition that senses a change is occurring and not knowing what it is. Regardless of what has brought you to this place, my belief is that by us working together you will experience a more expansive, joy-filled, meaningful, and productive life.

Becoming a counselor was a choice I made later in life. I earned a Masters of Arts degree in Professional Counseling from Argosy University/Phoenix.  My career as a professional counselor began in 2006.  I was affiliated with a mental health agency, providing outpatient counseling services to children and adolescents.  I enjoy working with a diverse population, providing counseling for clients of various ethnicities, cultures, spiritual beliefs, sexual orientation, range of education, financial security and life circumstances.  I went into private practice and started Empowerment Counseling in 2013. I counsel adolescents, adults, couples and families.
